Kay Nicholas

Hi, my name is Kay Nicholas. I was born in Salt Lake City in a Catholic family, grew up in Sacramento, went to college in southern California, and moved around quite a bit after that before finally settling in Stockton with my husband Jim in 1992. A job brought us here, and here we have stayed. Our family has expanded a bit, with the addition of our son George, born in 1993, and Jim’s mom, Colleen, who moved in with us 2006. Before I joined Stockton Covenant, I was an active member at the First Unitarian Universalist Church in Stockton. After I came to Christ in the spring of 2002, much to the surprise of my Unitarian friends (I was pretty surprised myself!), I was led to SCC by then-acquaintance, now-friend Sharon Piasecki. I stayed, and stay, because I continue to believe that this is where God wants me to be, and also because I love the people in the SCC family. I am in my second year in the “community outreach” position on Stockton Covenant’s leadership council. In that role, my goal at present is to help make the SCC family more aware of spiritual and material needs in the local community, and to draw SCC as a church body out into the community to love and serve in the name of Jesus. Other things I do at church are teach Sunday school and play piano for the church choir and AweMen (aka the men’s quartet).

I stayed, and stay, because I continue to believe that this is where God wants me to be, and also because I love the people in the SCC family.
