Heather Maurin

My name is Heather Maurin. I am originally from a small town in the South Bay Area called Los Gatos. I originally moved to Stockton in 2000 when I came to University of the Pacific for my undergraduate degree. I stayed here after meeting my husband and then I began working for Stockton Unified School District as a School Psychologist. Before coming to Stockton Covenant Church (SCC) I briefly attended Quail Lakes Church. Previous to that time I did not attend a church but I was very involved in a college ministry at Pacific called InterVarsity. It was through InterVarsity that I became a Christian. My husband and I started attending SCC after we were involved with a Young Adults Small Group hosted by Bill and Joanne Anders. After being in community with them and other members from the church, we decided to try out SCC. We have stayed because we really feel that SCC is our family and our home. We continue to be encouraged by all of the individual and community gifts within SCC. My position on the council is the Communication position. I was asked to be on the council by the nominations committee. After prayerfully considering the nomination, I really felt that God had this challenge in store for me. My main goal while on the council are to develop and maintain a new website. In addition to that, I really hope to open the door of communication between the council and whole congregation as well as between the congregation and the community of Stockton. At SCC I am involved in various areas including hospitality (helping with meals and events), small groups, prayer nights and nursery. In the past I have participated in setting up for events, teaching preschool Sunday school and baking regularly for church. The areas of ministry that interest me most are outreach and discipleship. I yearn to bring people into the kingdom of God and provide them support as they venture on the personal journey with Jesus. I hope to become more involved bringing people into our church.
