Speakers
Alise Barrymore, Keynote Speaker
Alise’s vision is “to walk with people, as they walk with God.” For the past five years, Rev. Barrymore has lived her vision as the North Park University Campus Pastor, winning the hearts of the students through her pastoral care. In May 2006, Alise left NPU to become co-pastor of the Emmaus Community, a unique worshipping community she helped found which offers a fusion of post-modern worship and historic African-American worship traditions. She is also pursuing a doctoral degree in spirituality. “Alise has the unique gift of ministering to anyone!” says Ruth Hill. “I’ve heard her speak at a Covenant Annual Meeting, at a women’s event and to college students. Her insights into God’s word and her delightful way of presenting them leave people hungry to hear more.” Alise resides in Homewood, IL.
Evelyn Johnson, Keynote Speaker
Evelyn is passionate about personal spiritual development. She first began developing students as a math instructor in public schools and universities. God redirected that passion into a full time call to ministry in the 1970s in the area of spiritual development. Called by the Evangelical Covenant Church, she served as Executive Director of Christian Education and Discipleship from 1986 to 1998. After serving as Pastor of “In” (Spiritual Formation) at Peninsula Covenant Church in Redwood City, CA, she was called in 2000 as Superintendent of the Pacific Southwest Conference, the first woman in the Covenant to hold this position. Evelyn and her husband Phil reside in Clayton, CA. “From the pulpit or across the table, Evelyn’s love of God and joy of serving him come shining through,” remarks Ruth Hill. “It’s the beautiful blend of the power of God and a genuine humility that makes her so inspiring and such an effective preacher.”
